Meet the Hazeldean Chiropractic Team
Kathy Bastin, Chiropractic Assistant
Growing up in a rural community in Southern Ontario, I moved to the Ottawa area after graduating from Wilfrid Laurier University with a B.A. in Honours Political Science. Taking an extended parental leave to raise two sons with husband Roger, I was fortunate to participate in a wide variety of volunteer endeavours before returning to the work force. Learning to appreciate winter with the move to Ottawa, I love cross country skiing, hockey on the back yard pond, and I was encouraged by my eldest son to take up running as a great way to keep fit.
Other pass times include working on recipes to convert old favourites into gluten and dairy free versions, and I am often found with a camera around my neck developing my photography skills. I am thrilled to be working with a team that specializes in helping people maximize their health and enjoyment of life.
Irmgard Schumann, Chiropractic Assistant
I moved to Canada from South Africa more than 20 years ago. Despite the bitterly cold winters, I love living in Ottawa because the city is surrounded by so much accessible greenspace.
In my spare time I enjoy reading (particularly biography and history), and cooking – I am constantly experimenting with new recipes!
Originally trained as a translator and editor, I also spent several years working as a customer service representative in the retail industry. I am very excited to join the Hazeldean Family Chiropractic Clinic where clients become part of the family and the doctors care deeply about the well-being of each and every patient.
Susan Ndiritu, Chiropractic Assistant
I was born and raised in a small town in Central Kenya, East Africa and later on moved to Nairobi, the country’s capital, where I went to Kenya Utalii college and studied Hotel Management.
My tourism background sparked an adventure streak and after working in the United Kingdom, a trip to Canada ensued, where I fell in love with the country and now have a second home.
My partner, his two sons and I like hiking in Ottawa’s Greenbelt area, playing soccer and swimming in the lake in the summer. I love music and enjoy dance fitness programs like Zumba that make staying active fun. I am also passionate about bringing awareness to the conservation of endangered wildlife species especially Big Cats and Elephants.
As a past chiropractic patient myself, I have felt the tremendous benefits that the treatments have had on my health and I am elated to be part of a team that is able to provide these benefits that help improve people’s quality of life.
