Arthritis and Chiropractic

holding knee in painAccording to the  Status of Arthritis in Canada report (August 2019) and update (September 2021) developed by the Arthritis Community Research and Evaluation Unit (ACREU) for the Arthritis Society, 1 in 5 Canadians suffers from arthritis.

Arthritis means “joint inflammation” and is a condition that affects the joints, the tissues that surround the joint, and other connective tissue. It results from damage to joint cartilage caused by various factors such as injury, wear (osteoarthritis), being overweight, and disease (rheumatoid arthritis).

Arthritis cannot be cured but the symptoms can be managed, thereby preventing the condition from progressing unnecessarily.

Chiropractors promote good balance and proper spine alignment, allowing the brain to communicate effectively with the nerves. Regular adjustments ensure that the body is able to perform essential everyday functions. If you remain as active and healthy as possible, arthritic joints benefit when there is a reduction of wear.

Your Chiropractor can also guide you in making healthy lifestyle choices such as nutrition, exercise and weight loss – key factors in managing your arthritis.

If you have any questions about the health or alignment of your spine or that of your loved ones, Dr. Erin McLaughlin and Dr. Pierre Paradis are here to help. If you live or work in Kanata and the surrounding area, contact us today or give us a call at (613) 831-9665.
